The Hands On Learning Method was developed by Hands On Learning Australia (HOLA) to improve school retention rates in the middle years (years 7-10) of secondary school. It began as the Hands On Learning Program at Frankston High School in Victoria in 1999 when teacher Russell Kerr proposed incorporating practical, 'do-able' tasks into the school curriculum.
