Service to Youth Council (SYC) is a community organisation centred on the provision of employment, training and youth services that positively affect young people's lives. SYC commenced operations on 9 September 1958 and became a legally incorported body in 1963.
Initially offering assistance to adolescents in state managed institutions and providing a drop in centre and other social activities for young people in metropolitan Adelaide, in 1962, SYC became the first organisation to deliver streetwork services in Australia, providing casework services for young people living on the city streets.
In 2014, SYC was operating services through three divisions:
HYPA - Helping Young People Achieve;
Job Prospects - employment and recruitment services; and
Training Prospects - a Registered Training Organisation.
